Should public whipping be brought back as a punishment for crime? For centuries, public whipping was a common punishment for crime. Starting about the late 1800's, it was condemned as "barbaric" and replaced by imprisonment. The prisons, however, are overcrowded, are training grounds for criminals, and are places where inmates are assaulted and abused. Wouldn't the lash be more effective? Should a prisoner have the option to receive a public whipping in lieu of imprisonment or in exchange for a reduction in prison time? |
| It may have its place for certain crimes against persons or fixed property, and after a thoroughly allocuted plea of guilty. And then again with the application as the only penalty the first AND ONLY THE FIRST time we do this to someone: no confinement, no probation, no criminal record after the event (but only a police chief or a judge would be entitled to that info). |
Should Public Whipping Be Brought Back as a Punishment for Crime? The advantages to society would be that it is quick and efficient and could eliminate the need for incarceration in many cases. The offender is given an acute, painful, and humiliating lesson that his conduct is wrong. The offender benefits as well, because he can get on with his life and the chance of something worse happening to him in prison is minimized. |
| Glad to see that some of you want to go back to the dark ages. |
Should we save the taxpayers a whole bunch of money and bring back public whipping? For minor infractions, wouldn't this be a lot more efficient, less burdensome on the taxpayers? Just get it over with and let everyone get on with their life. What do you think? |
| sounds good to me |
Should DUI Be Punished By Public Whipping? In several states, DUI, even for a first offense, carries a mandatory jail term, and pictures of persons convicted of DUI are available on public websites. I think, in many cases, a public whipping would be a better punishment. Consider, for example, the 20-something business executive, who has a wife and guyren to support. In general, he is a responsible, hardworking person, but on New Year's Eve, he goes out for a party, has too much to drink, and is cited for DUI. If we put him in jail, he is likely to lose his job, and that is not going to do him, his family, or society much good. A whipping of twenty lashes on his bare back will get the point across to him, and if he should be convicted of DUI again, he would get 40. The whipping can be filmed and shown to high school students, so that they will know the consequences of drunk driving. Your thoughts? |

Is It A Crime To Throw Whips In Public? I'm part of the fetish community and I don't have the space in my home or property to learn how to throw whips. I was wondering if I could go to a public park and practice on a tree; somewhere in the back where there are no people around?
Is there any reason why that would not be allowed? |
| I highly doubt that you could get in trouble for that, however I do know that if you are kicking your own car you can have the opportunity to chat with the cops for a good 30 minutes. If anyone does say anything just be polite and answer all their questions honestly. And don't do anything illegal while you are there doing something that is, at the very least, sketchy. Hope this helps, and good luck with using that whip on a person. |
Where are all the breastfeeders that whip it out in public and bare all for the world to see? Many people are offended by public breastfeeding because so many of us whip it out in the restaurant or the mall for everyone to get a good look. I can't understand this because I know many people who bf in public and they are very discrete. I've been to many public places and anytime I've seen someone nursing her shirt was up just enough to allow the baby to latch and all I ever see is the baby's head and a wrinkled shirt. I'm sure there were many other times that I have been around nursing mothers and I just didn't notice.
So tell me - why are you looking so intently if you are so uncomfortable with it? |
| Gooood point! I have never, ever seen enough skin when someone is breastfeeding to think that it would make someone "uncomfortable." Nursing mothers are incredibly discrete. Like you said, someone would REALLY have to take a GOOD, LONG look in order to see anythng that could potentially make them uncomfortable. It's almost like they are looking for something to complain about. So sad..really. |
Should wasteful people that leave alot of leftover food at buffets be dragged out and whipped in public?? whipped until they see the light of god and the selfishness leaves their body, until they realize that there's people that are starving all over the world and would do anything for those 5 eggrolls and chow mein they left on the plate? |
| if that's what u feel like doing then go for it, but it's their money that their wasting |
Why are public servants huge amounts of money? Shouldn't they be happy with a roof over their head, 3 square meals and a daily whipping. All their interests should be made public. |
A friend of mine knew a contractor for Halliburton. He was making 150,000 USD per year in Iraq untaxed, compliments of Tax Payer money which is given to military contractors by the Pentagon.
I'm pretty sure his job in the US would have paid like 35,000 per year. My friend didn't say what he did, but he said it was along the lines of installing toilet seats.
Gov. waste everywhere! |
